Glenda Haydon was admitted to Holt Senior Care & Rehab Center after having a Stroke which left her with extensive deficits. Upon admission Glenda was unable to walk. She required the use of a lift in order to transfer her from bed to chair. Glenda was experiencing decreased strength, cognitive and language deficits; which greatly impacted her activities of daily living. Upon admission to Holt Senior Care & Rehab Center, Glenda was evaluated by physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy; whom have all been working diligently with her throughout her rehab stay. Initially, Glenda could only tolerate minimal treatment sessions and required approximately a 1 hour rest between each 15 minute treatment. Her gains were slow but after a couple weeks Glenda was able to feed herself . Within a month Glenda started to walk a few feet with the parallel bars and then progressed to walking with a forward wheeled walker for short distances. Today, Glenda is tolerating 150 minutes of therapy a day and she has progressed to moving independently within her room. She is now able to complete all self-care tasks independently. Her cognition and language deficits have improved and are now only mild impairments. With the help of our therapy department, Glenda has met almost all of her therapy goals and will be discharged from Holt Senior Care and Rehab Center’s therapy program very soon.
Glenda is continuing to regain her independence daily thanks to Holt Senior Care & Rehab Center’s excellent therapy staff. Check back frequently to read more stories about our rehabilitation guest’s success.
